How QC-X Removes Moisture and Prevents Foaming
QC-X is a calcium oxide moisture scavenger that is added to PVC sols (plastisols), resins and adhesives to capture the moisture held in the material.
Left in place, that moisture turns to steam during heat treatment and forms bubbles and pinholes in the finished part. QC-X removes it beforehand, protecting surface smoothness and bond strength.
Chemical absorption — an irreversible reaction
Unlike physical adsorbents such as silica gel, calcium oxide takes up water through a chemical reaction. The moisture it captures is therefore not released again, even at elevated temperatures.
Reaction:
CaO (QC-X) + H2O (moisture) → Ca(OH)2 (calcium hydroxide)

Compared with ordinary calcium oxide, QC-X is designed specifically for compounding into resins and adhesives. It combines a fine particle size with a gentle rate of reaction, so it delivers its dehydrating effect while keeping the rise in compound viscosity under control.
